Use AirPlay to stream or share content from your Apple devices to your Apple TV or AirPlay 2-compatible smart TV. I am at this point considering dumping roku altogether. I've read countless support articles and verified my devices are all compatible. It seems everything is in place yet I can't get it to do anything other than load the settings screen over and over. (I've tried both.) So I can't just move the files to my phone as a workaround.
I have numerous educational videos from classes/groups that are downloaded to my computer only and not on my iPhone or iPad but just the macbook or an external hard drive. I checked and it works from my iPhone 11 Pro normally. I have also reset the homekit on this device and re-added it. I have also tried restarting the roku, restarting the tv, I have changed the display type from auto to 720/1080 etc and then back to auto because it doesn't help. I see airplay is on, requires code the first time only, the subtitles, about airplay and homekit which correctly labeled to our "home".
If I click into settings looking for a setting that isn't playing nice. The settings show the network and the device name which all matches. It never actually plays the video or audio. Then a screen loads on roku black at first then gives the words Airplay and then goes to settings. The quicktime video (a replay of a zoom screening in this case but it happens on all of them) goes black on the macbook pro. The IP address is different from my computer. It is on the same network and is added to my "Home" via apple. I open the video in quicktime and click the airplay icon and select the roku ultra device. I have a samsung 4k tv with a roku ultra (see specs below).
